Argentine international Nicolas Otamendi suggested he will leave Valencia CF this summer transfer window after a brilliant year at the Mestalla, according to ESPN FC.

Many Premier League giants are keen to sign the Valencia CF centre-back, but Manchester United immediately showed great interest to acquire the 27-year old Otamendi, who might be the missing piece to their defense.

Nicolas Otamendi rise to fame during 2014-15 season in La Liga, become one of the key reasons why Valencia CF returned to the UEFA Champions League. With his incredible motor and coverage in defense, the Argentine was a dream for any manager at the backline.

Last season marked his best year since he joined Valencia CF in the summer of 2013 coming from Porto, after a subpar first season at the Mestalla that saw him immediately loaned to Club Atlético Mineiro. However, in the summer of 2014, he came back to Valencia and made his debut against Sevilla in August. From that day, manger Nuno Espirito Santo recognized his potential at the backline position and made a hasty decision to make Otamendi their primary centre-back.

Valencia CF have played pretty well during the season, giving them a chance to fight for the UEFA Champions League Championship next year. Nicolas Otamendi has a €50 million release clause signed on his contract, which is €42 million than what Valencia paid for to acquire him from Porto.

"While the Spanish side would surely hate losing one of their top defenders, 35 million pounds would be good business for a player on whom they paid Porto just £8 million back in 2014," according to ESPN FC.

He said that he already told his representative to talk on his behalf and allow him to leave the team this summer. He also added that, he already communicated with the team president and his agent, so they know very well what his desire is.

But for now, his agent has all the responsibility whatever the outcome of his career this offseason. He is currently on duty on the Argentina National team playing in 2015 Copa America. Otamendi's strong defending and his other capabilities in that position will be a big key on the Manchester United defense, which many football pundits believe the Red Devils are lacking of right now.
