As per the latest Apple iPad Mini update, the technology giant will no longer manufacture the mini models and focus on selling its Retina display devices only.

The iPad mini was a compact successor to the big iPad and was quite popular amongst users; however, last week on Friday, Apple removed the iPad mini from its online stores. Even the spokesperson for Apple confirmed the news saying that the company will no longer be selling the iPad mini devices and focus on the latest iOS devices only though the relatively recent models of the iPad mini will still be available.

The Apple iPad mini that was removed from Apple's portfolio was a path-breaking initiative and an excellent alternative to the expensive iPad. According to LA Times, the Apple iPad was initially being sold at $399 and later dropped to $249; however, its departure from the Apple portfolio was sudden and unexpected.

All the new Apple devices have retina display facility that gives crystal clear presentation on the screen, making it impossible to distinguish between individual pixels. The users will now be able to choose between iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3. The original iPad mini is almost two and a half years old. A report on Computer World points out that iPad mini originally released in markets in 2012.

The successors of the iPad mini sport a retina display. The original iPad mini had a 32-bit A5 system-on-a-chip (SoC) processor. As compared to this configuration, the newer models are surely faster and better since they feature a 64 bit processor powered by the A7 SoC and A8X SoC, respectively. Meanwhile, the brand continues to offer the original iPad Air that uses a 64-bit A7 SoC.

Computer World also points towards Apple's intention to expand the iPad line this year itself. The update will introduce users to a larger screen model which is rumored to come with a 12-inch size. The introduction of new features in iOS 9, including the much-awaited split screen mode, are also hinting towards the possibility of a bigger iPad update.
