Android Lollipop 5.1 update is now available for the 2013 model of Moto X. David Schuster, the senior director of Motorola, recently announced the successful soak testing of Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Moto X 2013.

For the software upgrade, which is hitting the Moto X models in Brazil, the U.S., and Canada, users should get an automatic prompt on their devices stating that they received a firmware upgrade, IDigital Times reported. If the users are not getting the automatic pop up message, they can check the upgrade manually, if they follow some steps.

First, users need to go to "Settings" then "About Device" and then they need to go to the menu option of "Software Update."

The device will check for the latest update and inform the user accordingly. All the versions of Moto X should get this Android Lollipop 5.1 update within this month. The device currently runs on Android 5.0.2 and is facing a lot of issues such as memory leaks, over heating and also battery draining, Android Control reported.

The update will fix these issues along with incorporating many new features as it will enable the device to access Wi-Fi networks and connect via Bluetooth from "Quick Settings." It will also enable the device to pin volume controls and many other features to the home screen of the phone. It also enhances the performance of the smartphone by a long margin.

In case the users receive the over-the-air notification for this update, they should make sure that their device is connected to Wi-Fi and is charged to a minimum of 50 percent, for a quick update.

The following instructions should be followed for the same. First, users need to select the option of "Select "Yes I am in" then they need to "Select Install Now." After that, the users need to let the phone reboot. The whole process may take some time and it is essential to follow all the steps in a proper manner.

After the reboot, the phone will now be equipped with the new update and the users can get to experience a better smartphone performance.
