According to CNET, Facebook was quick to introduce a new icon in its regular profile through which users will be able to support their gay friends, as well as the legalisation of gay marriages. The new feature is being called the Celebrate Pride Tool. Using this, users will actually be able to superimpose a colorful rainbow on their existing profile picture with just one click.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the new feature on his personal page, expressing his happiness on the courts for delivering the landmark judgement. Meanwhile, gay community in all the states of America came forward in big numbers to celebrate the feat. Needless to say, the feature was an instant hit soon after its introduction. In fact, even the White House went ahead to use the rainbow on its profile picture.
Apart from Apple and Facebook, other companies to support the cause included Google, Uber and even Salesforce. Another report on Engadget also said that in his morning speech, President Obama called the decision as "justice that arrives like a thunderbolt" and also congratulated the gay community.
Satya Nadella, the Indian origin CEO of Microsoft, said that it was a historic win for America and simply reiterates the country's mission to grant equality irrespective of cast, creed, color or even sexual orientation.
