Unflappable Top Rank CEO Bob Arum recently expressed his desire for his fighter, current WBO Welterweight interim champion Timothy Bradley Jr., to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on the unbeaten champion's last bout before retirement in September.
Boxing News 24 reported that Arum hopes Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs) would soon call him to set up a match against his ward Bradley (32-1-1, 12 KOs) for his supposed-to-be farewell show on September 12 in Las Vegas.

The 83-year-old boxing promoter said that he thinks the Desert Storm is the only fighter right now that could give Money and the fans the best fight out of all the reported opponents he can choose from, such as Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto, Keith Thurman, Kell Brook, Shawn Porter, and especially Mayweather's current options Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield.
However, Boxing Scene indicated that the bout is not expected to happen at all as Mayweather is evidently turned off from dealing with Arum and Top Rank, with the Manny Pacquiao fight being the only exception due to the huge earning potential involved.
Still, Arum would not stay silent about the matter. He insinuated that only Bradley's reputation as a tough fighter that can win at all costs will be able to produce another huge payday for the pay-per-view king, whose fights were largely patronized because fans only wanted to see him get beat.
"Floyd's always taken the least dangerous guy and Bradley poses a great danger. So will Showtime, which has to come up with the money, let him fight someone who's not going to resonate at the box-office?" he probed.
Bradley was coming off another controversial victory against Jessie Vargas last week. Referee Pat Russell prematurely stopped the bout with seven seconds left on the last round after Vargas caught Bradley with a thunderous right hand that almost floored the latter.
Vargas thought that he had won via TKO, as per Bleacher Report, but Russell was quick to admit that he had made a mistake of assuming that the 10-second warning sound was the final bell to instantly clear up the result.
There were speculations of a Bradley-Vargas rematch because of the slight controversy, but Arum is keen on finding a much bigger match for his man and the last fight of Mayweather's career is apparently his target.
