British heavyweight sensation Anthony Joshua is reportedly looking to challenge the current WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO, and the Ring World Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2016.

Boxing News 24 reported that Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is thinking that his client is "ready to fight for a world title by next year" even if the 25-year-old is still virtually untested against elite fighters in his division.

So far, Joshua is still undefeated in 13 fights, all won by way of knockout and each one did not last longer than three rounds.

Despite his noticeable inexperience, Hearn is confident that the 2012 London Olympics gold medalist could beat elite domestic talents such as Tyson Fury, Dereck Chisora, and David Price. In fact, the British promoter is set to schedule Joshua to fight former WBA Heavyweight champion and current WBO International Heavyweight champion David "The Hayemaker" Haye next year in London.

This could be in preparation for the potential fight against Klitschko, who defeated Haye via a 12-round unanimous decision in 2011.

In November last year, Joshua acted as Klitschko's sparring partner in preparation for the latter's title defense against Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev.

The 39-year-old Ukrainian was reportedly impressed by the potential of Joshua and told reporters that he would someday become the heavyweight champion of the world, via ESPN. In a way, Klitschko was saying that he could potentially pass the heavyweight division's torch to Joshua after dominating it for almost two decades.

Klitschko may be surprised to see it happening so soon if ever their fight pushes through late next year.

However, some boxing pundits believe that Joshua is too raw to face Klitschko that soon. Experts deem that he needs a year or two and a couple of mega fights with the other great heavyweights of this time, such as current WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Russia's Alexander Povetkin, his fellow countryman Tyson Fury, and Pulev.

Still, Hearn had more to say about Joshua as he told TalkSport that his fighter could become a bigger star than current pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the future.

"We have got someone, in my opinion, who could be the biggest star in boxing since Floyd Mayweather...or even bigger," Hearn said. "I think he can transcend the sport, and not just in this country."
