According to NYTimes, Chinese factories have recently made a record of occupying ¼ of global robotic manufacturing and the International Federation of Robotics predicted the country to move forward with this type of workforce, dominating the robotic world by 2017.
Citing Midea, the leading home appliance manufacturer is set to venture in the world of robotic workforce, eliminating at least 6,000 employees in exchange of their robotic transition. They said the transition will cover the air conditioning for residential homes division and will be fully enforced by the end of 2015. Foxconn, on the other hand, has significantly transitioned its factory in Chengdu to a fully robotic factory, and aims to replace its human workforce to a robotic workforce to 70 percent within 3 years. Foxconn is the maker of Apple electronics in China.
The issue of robotic replacement has plagued the now struggling economic struggles of the country. The human work force slowly decreases yet, and is being replaced by robotic hands that makes 10x what the human force can do. Economic balancing is now the struggle as China fights to balance consumers against the fast growing manufacturing industry.
In a post made by the Wall Street Journal, the amount of factory jobs that the China is receiving worldwide is so massive that they have resorted to incorporate robotic workforce, a move that will eventually jeopardize the jobs of many people in China, especially those in the manufacturing workforce.
The call for "industrial robot revolution" by China's President Xi Jinping have led to robotic companies taking advantage of tax breaks, subsidies and VAT refunds. Robohub quoted Goldman Sach saying, "The prospect of being able to pay off the cost of a robot in slightly more than a year has brought industrial automation withing the reach of China."
