Unbeaten welterweight titlist Keith Thurman may have failed to forced Floyd Mayweather to accept his challenge with an unimpressive knockout win over Luis Collazo, Saturday at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida.
Hyped as the sport's "next big thing", Thurman (26-0, 22 KOs) exhibited a well-rounded skill set, but didn't pack enough ammunition to make it a compelling fight for Mayweather.

Thurman called out Mayweather after the fight, but observers say he plans to exit after one more fight--and that probably will not be against Thurman.
A few days ago, Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, said that nobody from their team is even thinking about Thurman.
While Ellerbe admitted that Thurman is a very, very good young fighter and extremely talented, the WBA champion doesn't understand how the game goes."
Thurman said he will guarantee that a fight againts Mayweather will not be boring such as the one the latter had with Manny Pacquiao and Marcos Maidana fight.
He described their potential fight as one between a talented young man against one of today' best fighters,
Nonetheless, if he fails to get a fight date with Mayweather, he would like to fight Amir Khan, Shawn Porter or Marcos Maidana next.
In Saturday's fight, Last Collazo quit on his stool at the start of Round 8 due to a bad cut on his right eye deemed to have been caused by an accidental clash of heads.
The champion had to overcome a game effort from the faded Collazo who nearly took him out with a liver shot in round 5.
The challenger said that Thurman was wide open for that body shot and that could have at least dropped Thurman after the body shot, but he ran out of time.
Thurman led in all scorecards at the time of the stoppage with scores 69-64, 69-64 and 68-65.
The champion landed 119 of 348 punches for 34 percent as Collazo connected on just 76 of 244 or 31 percent.
Thurman argued that Collazo is a fighter that has made a lot of champions look bad. He added that he's happy with the way he fought at such level againts world champions or ex-world champions.
He added that he's learning on how to box, to be methodical and to break the fighter down.
Collazo was the third Thurman victim in the past seven months after a unanimous decison wins over Leonard Bundu and Robert Guerrero.
