WBC Silver Welterweight champion Amir Khan had prepared a "plan B" in case pay-per-view king Floyd Mayweather Jr. passes over him again for his supposed farewell fight in September, as per Boxing News 24.

The British sensation's alternative was to fight in November or December against a well-known boxer, but it will not be fellow Briton Kell Brook as he reportedly liked to save that match in the future.

Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) said that his replacement fight would "have to be a big one" and he insisted that he trusted his manager Al Haymon on who exactly his next opponent will be. The 28-year-old added that the match will "probably be back in the States again."

Most analysts, however, believe that the Bolton native's possible opponent would again not be an elite fighter but a second-tier one like Chris Algieri, as Haymon had been pairing him with soft punchers since his fourth-round TKO loss to Danny Garcia in 2012.

The Daily Mirror said that Khan had called Mayweather "unprofessional" for stalling the announcement of who his final opponent on September 12th will be.

The current number one pound-for-pound fighter had insinuated that his probable final opponent could either be Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield, both unheralded fighters.

Boxing Junkie reported that the unbeaten American already started his training camp for the September fight on Tuesday. Even without an announced opponent, it seems clear that Mayweather had already decided on who it will be as it would be a waste of time preparing for an unknown opponent.

Mayweather is known to always want to keep control of every situation both in and out of the ring, and this current scenario demonstrates that speculation once again. With the stall, a lot of boxing pundits believe that it might finally be Khan as his last fight after all.

"He likes to make his opponents wait and maybe he's making me wait, distracting me a little bit, making sure that I'm not going to be focused on what my job is," said Khan.

Khan believes that he is a more attractive pay-per-view name than Berto or Mayfield, which is why he thinks that Mayweather's delay was on purpose to put him off for a while.
