Mexican authorities have released a surveillance footage on Tuesday showing how Joaquin Guzman, also known as "El Chapo," made his escape from prison through a tunnel in his cell.
CBS News reported that the escape tunnel had access to electricity and was well ventilated. Authorities also discovered a motorcycle inside the underground route.

Mexican investigators have pieced together how the convicted drug kingpin made his way to freedom. On Saturday evening, July 11, Guzman went to the shower area and proceeded to open a small hidden door that leads to the tunnel. The man-made escape route is about one mile in length, with a height of 5 feet and lies 30 feet below the prison grounds. From his cell, Guzman later emerged in construction area just south of the Mexican high-security prison.
Time Magazine reported that Guzman's cell was equipped with CCTV cameras in order to monitor him remotely. However, the cameras did not extend to the bathroom area.
The country's Interior Minister, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, expressed his belief during a media conference that a number of corrupt correction personnel probably assisted the drug lord.
The successful and embarrassing escape of Guzman from the Altiplano's high-security prison has resulted in the removal of the head of the facility and a number of staff, according to CNN. Mexican officials have since launched an investigation into the incident and at least 49 persons have been invited for questioning concerning the daring escape of the 58-year-old drug lord.
Guzman has a $3.8 million bounty on his head for anyone that could help in his recapture.
This is not the first time that Guzman was able to pull off a spectacular escape. About 14 years ago, he made his first escape by allegedly using a laundry pushcart. In 2014, he was recaptured while he was asleep in a local resort.
El Chapo is the known head of the Sinaloa drug cartel. His organization is responsible for transporting many of the illegal drugs in the United States. When he was captured again, the American government requested his extradition, but were turned down by Mexico.
U.S. authorities reportedly notified Mexico that Guzman is making plans to make his second escape. However, Mexican officials say such information had not been passed to them.
