Chinese Netizens have called Tao ugly, talentless and shameless. Korea Boo reported that negative comments were posted after Korea me2day, a popular news source for Korean entertainment industry on Weibo, shared the news about Tao's upcoming mini-album.
Soon after, there was a deluge of negative comments under the post. Korea Boo quoted one of the posters as saying, "Looks, acting skills, vocal abilities, rapping talent, and character, can you tell me what is actually good about him?" A number of posters called him "ugly" and one of the posters said, "If ugliness can generate electricity, then the world is being lit up by Zitao."
It is not only Chinese netizens but Korean netizens have also reacted negatively to the news. The latter have called him a liar and more cruel than Luhan and Kris who left the group last year. Korea Boo quoted one of the Korean netizens as saying, "Is he crazy? Did he even officially announce things? He sure used to blabber a lot and now look what happened . . ."
Tao, who has yet to officially confirm his departure from EXO, has been indulging in solo activities ever since he stopped actively participating with EXO since April. Last month, he established a one-man studio in Beijing, China to handle his solo activities, and the mini-album, which is slated to release on July 23, is the first music offering from his newly established studio.
Meanwhile, EXO's management agency SM Entertainment has yet to comment on Tao's plan to release his solo mini-album. It, however, has removed him from the official Facebook page of EXO-M last week, while Tao has deleted "EXO Chinese member" from his Weibo description. Now it just says, "Singer, actor Huang Zitao," according to Korea Boo. Moreover, he has also unfollowed Sehun and EXO official accounts on Weibo, though he is still following the accounts of Lay and Luhan. Luhan is an ex-EXO Chinese member of the Chinese-Korean idol group, while Lay is an active Chinese member of the group.
Also Tao has unfollowed all the six people that he was following on Instagram, including Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Luhan, Lay, Sehun, and Dynamic Duo's Gaeko. Both Baekhyun and Chanyeol are no longer following him on Instagram.
