Kevin Durant will never run out of suitors especially as his impending summer of 2016 free agency approaches. And one of the highly probable teams to land him next year would be the Los Angeles Lakers, as per CBS Sports.

The Lakers used to be the shoo-in franchise for prime free agent targets in the league but have not attracted any established names since the Dwight Howard-Steve Nash debacle in 2012.

In the last three offseasons, the Lake Show was notably bypassed by superstars LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, and more recently Kevin Love, Greg Monroe, and LaMarcus Aldridge. The team was even instantly dismissed by Marc Gasol as a possible next destination.

However, Mitch Kupchak and company are confident that they can lure in the 2014 MVP and six-time All-Star next summer with a plethora of young and up and coming talents when Kobe Bryant's contract expires maybe for the very last time.

With the selection of second overall pick D'Angelo Russell, the return of last year's seventh overall pick Julius Randle, the emergence of top sophomore Jordan Clarkson, and the signing of Roy Hibbert, Brandon Bass, and Lou Williams, the Lakers are set to greatly improve this year from their dismal showing last season.

Lakers Nation indicated that a playoff spot is not yet guaranteed with this lineup, but Kupchak had definitely guided that team in the right direction with the acquisition of these "talented young players," which made the franchise's post-Kobe future brighter than expected.

If L.A. is able to pull off a stunning 2015-2016, then they may catch Durant's interest to move in at Staples as the next great Hollywood superstar after Bryant.

The other two teams that were said to have enough cap space to sign Durant in 2016 are the Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks, according to Inquisitr. Washington was the 26-year-old's hometown, which puts them on top of Durant's possible landing spots in case he decided to leave the Thunder.

But with Bryant's $25 million salary out of the books next year, and the cap spiking significantly, the Lakers only has $19.8 million due to players so far without taking away any of their key additions. This will allow them not only to sign Durant for a max contract, but could possibly snatch another max player alongside him, such as LeBron, Love, or even Chris Paul.

If everything goes according to Kupchak's plan, then the Lakers are all set to return to championship contention in 2016-2017.
