Reigning WBA and lineal super middleweight champion Andre Ward is reportedly eyeing a potential fight with perhaps the most exciting boxer in the world today, WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, this fall, according to Boxing News 24.

Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) is said to be willing to go down to a still undecided catch weight to face Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), who is the fighter most boxing fans right now think would be the future of the sport.

Tom Loeffler, GGG's promoter, recently stated that his client is willing to fight Ward at a catchweight with the purse split 50-50 in the middle. Loeffler even said that the match would be a viable crowd-drawer as it will be billed as "the best 160-pounder versus the best 168-pounder (at) 164", referring to a proposed catchweight.

Analysts think that the deal would actually be advantageous to Ward as he is currently lacking on elite fighters to face and Golovkin, being the current number one blockbuster fighter in HBO boxing, could provide him the push he needed to resurrect his career.

However, a lot of boxing pundits think that the bout is not pay-per-view worthy as both fighters have not yet proven themselves in that level.

Recently, a "war of words" between the two fighters are making waves on the internet possibly to spice up their upcoming fight.

Boxing Junkie reported that Ward said Golovkin is making all kinds of excuses to avoid a fight with him. The 6-foot American claimed that GGG's camp was not telling the truth about him not wanting to face their client. He also said that he is always available and that Golovkin's trainer and promoter might be mentioning his name in interviews just for "shock value."

Meanwhile, Golovkin blasted Ward for his comments regarding the former's supposed reluctance to fight the super middleweight champion, as per SB Nation's Bad Left Hook.

The 5-foot-10 Kazakh was not in his usual jolly personality when he told reporters that it was Ward who was lying and not him or his side.

Speaking in Russian while directing his message to Ward, Golovkin reminded him that it was Ward who said "no" to HBO when they were asked to fight. An English translation of that message disclosed that GGG also said that he has "nothing left to discuss" with Ward and "as a man, you are dead to me."
