At least four people were arrested by the authorities on Sunday in relation to a sextape shot in a Uniqlo store in Beijing. The video, which was recorded with an iPhone, has since gone viral.

Global Times reported that one of the suspects is facing criminal charges for distributing pornographic material. Beijing has given very little information on the identity of the suspect except that his surname is Sun and he is 19 years old. Three other persons are reportedly under administrative arrest for allegedly distributing the Uniqlo sextape.

An unidentified Uniqlo official told reporters that none of the company's staff were involved in the sex video and all have been cleared by police investigators. The company official also insisted that the Uniqlo sex scandal is not a marketing stunt.

The sextape is believed to have been recorded in one of the fitting rooms of Uniqlo' Sanlitun branch in the Chinese capital.  The video is thought to have been uploaded to the Internet on July 15. Local authorities estimate that the recording was made in mid-April.

The sex video purportedly shows a young male and female engaging in sexual acts. The video was recorded by the man, who was fully clothed, while his female counterpart was naked. The video shows the male instructing his partner to kiss him.

The Uniqulo sex video quickly spread online through WeChat and Sina Weibo. The couple in the video have reportedly been identified and brought in for questioning.

Their identities have not been revealed by authorities. However, the female was described as a college student.

CNN reported that senior company officials at We Chat and Weibo were scolded by the authorities for failing to stop the spread of the sexually explicit video on the Internet. Government officials reportedly told the executives to remember their "social responsibility".

The sex video has made Uniqlo's Sanlitun branch quite popular, according to The New York Times. Taking pictures inside the store is currently prohibited. However, a lot of the locals and even tourists content themselves taking "selfie" or "groufie" in front of the store.
