The 24-year-old wideout was involved in a fight at Sandbar Surf Bar in Virginia before the July 4th weekend celebrations. NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk indicated that his antagonist allegedly suffered "serious injuries", a broken jaw and a cracked tooth, which required hospitalization although they were non-fatal.

Hunter's "victim" pressed charges afterward and the former University of Tennessee standout became a suspect to the case. He is claimed of "stabbing, cutting and wounding" the injured man with "malicious intent" according to police reports.

The incoming  second-year pro was prosecuted in court on Tuesday and was released by General District Judge Daniel Lahne immediately that afternoon on a $25,000 bond. He was also ordered to promote good behavior, refrain from taking drugs and alcohol, and have a curfew from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., as per the Tennessean.

The schedule of the preliminary hearing was on September 3.

The Virginia Attorney's Office pronounced that Hunter could be jailed from five to 20 years and fined $100,000 for his Class 6 misdemeanor.

The Titans released a one-sentence statement on Monday, which said "We are aware of the situation and are continuing to gather more facts."

Investigations revealed that Hunter started the brawl when he initially punched the victim and then other men started fighting. The scuffle was cleared by bar owners while Hunter's foe was outside the sidewalk "spitting out blood" when he allegedly "sucker-punched" the man.

A warrant was released Friday last week and the police got in touch with the NFL team, which led to Hunter's surrender on Monday.

The Virginia Beach native is also set to face investigation from the league itself and is expected to be fined, suspended, and placed on the NFL's exempt list.

Hunter was drafted 34th overall in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Titans. He performed 28 catches, 498 yards, and three touchdowns last season but missed the team's last four games with a spleen injury.

Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said that the management and coaching staff will evaluate the incident and decide on the best course of action for their beleaguered wideout.
