Boxing News 24 reported that the 33-year-old Kazakh sensation said he is a "small middleweight" and there would be no problem for him to move down to 154 if that is what it takes to face Mayweather.

"Look at me, I'm not big," said Golovkin. "My last couple of fights I'm 158, 159. This is possible for me. I'm going to 154 just for Floyd. I understand this is the biggest fight in the world."

However, Mayweather seems to want to take things easy as he winds down one of the most successful boxing careers of all-time and Golovkin may have to go down as far as 147 to make the fight happen. If he would agree to such a deal, then GGG will not be strong or hydrated enough to give Floyd the challenge that the fans want.

After crossing sticks with hard-punching opponents since his September 2013 match with Mexican brawler Saúl Álvarez up to last May's fight with Filipino slugger Manny Pacquiao, the unbeaten American and his camp allegedly wanted an easy opponent for his final bout.

Reports from different media outlets said that Mayweather had already scheduled two-time welterweight champion and current WBA welterweight interim titleholder Andre Berto to be his last opponent on September 12th, although there are no official announcements coming from the pay-per-view king himself.

This move said to have disappointed a lot of boxing enthusiasts around the world as the fans apparently wished Mayweather to fight someone who has the chance to beat him.

According to Bleacher Report, Golovkin "represents a group of potential opponents" that could at least give Money a good fight and Berto is not among them.

British pugilist Amir Khan had been trying to secure a fight with the reigning WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring welterweight champion for the last two years, but he was not given any chance by Mayweather to come close to any deal.

Because of the perceived low quality of the Mayweather-Berto fight, the champion's camp reportedly agreed to show it for free on live television via CBS rather than their typical PPV fashion.

If the fight pushes through, then the whole world can watch Mayweather finish off his career on less than a resounding note.
