Reigning super middleweight king Andre Ward claimed that he is ready to fight current middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin right now, but the Kazakh brawler is reportedly setting his sights to contend as the possible final opponent of pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.

SkySports indicated that the 31-year-old Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) said he is now "ready" to face the challenge of Golovkin, who initially told reporters that he would be willing to go up to 168 to face the man they call S.O.G.

The two boxers had been exchanging heated words in the media the past couple of weeks, which led to the presumption that the two camps are already negotiating for a potential fight this fall.

However, GGG was singing a different tune these days as he may have seen a small window of opportunity to be considered as Mayweather's last rival on September 12th.

The pay-per-view king announced immediately after defeating Manny Pacquiao in last May's "Fight of the Century" that he would be completing his final fight and contract with Showtime this September and then he would retire.

Multiple reports said that it was Andre Berto who Mayweather chose as his final opponent, but there were still no confirmations coming from the unbeaten fighter himself or from his camp about the truth of the accounts.

With this delay, Golovkin seems to be trying to lure Money to dance with him in the ring as the 33-year-old brawler claimed that it would be "the biggest fight in the world" at the moment.

GGG then said that he would be willing to go down to 154 this time just for Mayweather.

"Look at me, I'm not big, I'm not fat," Golovkin said as reported by CBS Sports. "My couple of last fights, I was 158, 159. It's possible for me. I would go to 154 just for Floyd. I understand that this is the biggest fight in the world. This would show who is who, the best fighter in the world."

Meanwhile, light heavyweight champ Sergey Kovalev is reportedly interested in facing Ward this last quarter of the year and have said that the San Francisco native is his top priority to fight, as per Boxing Scene.

The Russian, who is scheduled to defend his titles against Frenchman Nadjib Mohammedi on Saturday, said that Ward is "one of the best" in the world and he is looking forward to fighting him as soon as possible.
