For Fan Bingbing, there is no such thing as "too much" when it comes to the call of her duty. Even in a country notorious for its media screening policies, scenes that show much of her skin is not too much for Fan.

On Thursday, screenshots of her "sex scene" with "Lady of the Dynasty" co-star Leon Lai caused an uproar among Weibo users. Fan's character was riding a horse when Lai's character came up to her and ripped off her clothes. Apparently, an erotic straddling of the horse ensued and prompted concern among the netizens.

Fan was quick to defend the scene and invoked her duty as an actress to be open to different acting requirements. She added that if an actor aims to grow in the craft, nothing is ever "too much" when it comes to certain roles and shows.

"The scene speaks of humanity, love, life, and death. It's a depiction of love and tension between people through a new perspective," she explained to members of media.

In fact, Fan's passion toward her character allegedly almost caused her her life, director Shi Qing revealed during the movie promotion. Refusing to be called a sensitive actress, Fan took on the difficulties of the role without complaints.

"I played it 10 years ago in a TV drama. I thought at that time I would agree on any condition if I should have the opportunity to pay it again in a movie in the future," Toggle quoted the actress.
 
Aside from worrying about Fan's image and the horse's possible feelings about the scene, netizens also took time to check on Fan's boyfriend Li Chen and sought his reaction. Speaking in behalf of her lover, Fan stated that she and Li share a mutual understanding and respect for the demands of their work. As a measure to prevent possible argument in the future, Fan quipped about informing Li in advance if she finds herself in a similar scene someday.

Lady of the Dynasty is Fan's first movie since coming out in May about her romance with Li. In an interview, she explained that she has decided to put rumors to rest so that they can enjoy the relationship without becoming a bait for paparazzi.
