Tao, whose real name is Huang Tao, made his solo debut on July 23. And, after releasing his mini-album, T.A.O, the lead rapper of EXO-M, the Mandarin subgroup of Chinese-Korean idol group EXO, said on Weibo that the lyrics covey what he wanted to say. The media reports are suggesting that the lyrics are hinting at Tao's troubled time in South Korea as an EXO idol under the wings of S.M. Entertainment.

"T.A.O is back to tell about our 'Yesterday' and to share 'One Heart' with everyone," Korea Boo quoted the 22-year-old singer as saying on his Weibo account. "The things I want to say are all recorded in the lyrics, I hope everyone likes it."
Tao also expressed his gratitude for his fans' devotion toward him, adding that he thinks that everyone is happy at that moment. He added, "You all gave me your hope, I will give you all a better tomorrow. I love you all. Oh, tell me which song you like, ok?"
Soon after the release of the mini-album, netizens started dissecting Tao's first solo album, and they noted that some parts of the lyrics in T.A.O are taking a shot at SM Entertainment, according to Soompi.
Some parts of the lyrics of the title track "T.A.O" says that he believes in his persistence, choice, and the time has come to leave. Also he sings that he understands freedom and understands why he is back. In addition, he also sings (lyrics translation via Korea Boo), "The lost time is a part of an irreversible life. I'm not willing to remember part of that memory."
"One love, where are you? I tried to find it, but I couldn't find it. Can I trust it? Where is it? Where is it? Let's forget the past," the lyrics of the song say.
Meanwhile, S.M. Management has yet to comment on Tao's solo debut. The management agency of EXO last spoke to the media about him when he had established his one-man studio. However, he has been removed from the official Facebook page of EXO-M. Tao stopped performing with EXO in April. He was not part of EXO's repackaged album "Love Me Right."
