The Dallas Mavericks reacquired Samuel Dalembert who was not only waived by the New York Knicks but who it once suspended for oversleeping and being late for practice.

The move, reported by ESPN,  may make the Mavericks beginning look desperate in fortifying its center post.

The Mavs also shopped around at the summer league and "discovered" 6'9" Senegalese Maurice NDour, 23, who played for Ohio University and went undrafted in June.

Once again, observers made references to its failure to nab DeAndre Jordan in free agency and the conseqeunces it brought of missing out on other available centers as to why it is struggling to fill in the cenrter position.

Dalembert, 34, has been out of the league since he was waived by the New York Knicks in January after averaging a lackluster 4.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

The Mavericks started Dalembert at center in 2013-14--the same season when they suspended him for oversleeping and arriving late for a team work out.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Dalembert reasoned that he had problems sleeping at night, so he tried solve it by sleeping early but he ends up oversleeping.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said that Dalembert's behavior was unacceptable, but they need him and his then averages of 6.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 20.2 minutes per game averages.

Nonetheless, the Mavs sent Dalembert packing to the New York Knicks in a deal that sent back Tyson Chandler.

The Mavs would have tried to extend Chandler in the offseason had they known that Jordan wouldn't sign with them.

Chandler drifted to the Suns and the Mavs started scampering for available centers to sign.

They got Zaza Pachulia in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, who obviously could not provide the impact that Jordan brings.

Now, the Mavs are forming a platoon of centers, now composed of Dalemebert, Pachulia and NDour, that would back up star power forward Dirk Nowitzki .

The Mavs are hopeful that Salah Mejri of Turkey and NBA veteran JaVale McGee could soon be part of that group.

They are said to be close to signing Mejri to a three-year deal but are observing how McGee recovers from a tibia muscle injury.

Meanwhile, a scouting report by the Hoops Habit website said that Ndour possesses a skill set not found in other big men, such as a three-point shot and ball-handling skills.

Ndour also possesses a 7'6" wingspan, making him a shot blocking threat.

He averaged 9.6 points, 4.8 rebounds  and 28.3 minutes in the summer league, where he also blitzed the Philadelphia 76ers with a team-high 23 points.
