Cleveland Cavaliers' power forward Kevin Love is planning to attend the USA Basketball Men's National Team minicamp from August 11 to 13 in Las Vegas despite his still rehabilitating shoulder, according to Basketball Insiders.

The 26-year-old All-Star is reportedly going to the three-day camp mainly to comply with the requirements set by USA Basketball executive Jerry Colangelo with regards to those that will make the final roster for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Love will more likely not be able to participate on the court as his surgically repaired shoulder is still not healed enough, but his presence would make him qualify for the men's basketball team that will compete in next year's summer games.
Other big name stars that reportedly will also be there next month are Blake Griffin, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chandler Parsons, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George, all of whom, except Griffin, are currently recovering from injuries they suffered during the last NBA season, as per ESPN.
Reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors will have four representatives, namely Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and newcomers Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes.
The first two days of the camp is scheduled to feature "noncontact workouts" while the last day will showcase a scrimmage between participants ala-All-Star Game.
The USAB managing director dubbed the training as a "reunion" more than an actual camp after they invited most of the same 34 players that are already in the program since September 2014 in addition to a number of new recruits.
Cavs Nation indicated that Love's total recovery from shoulder surgery is set by team doctors to be around four to six months to complete. The seven-year veteran is only three months into rehab, which will not allow him to compete on the court and even in simple drills.
While Love has a big chance of being included in Team USA's final lineup in the Olympics next year even if he passes the minicamp especially with the injury, it is clear that he does not want to bypass the official process of getting into it.
This is a good indication for Colangelo as the USAB somehow felt that established NBA superstars are not anymore interested in playing for the national team because of the risk of getting injured, which might hamper their careers in the long term.
