Portland Trailblazers' main man Damian Lillard seemed indifferent about participating in next month's USA Basketball Men's National Team minicamp in Las Vegas as the 6-foot-3 point guard said that he does not think he is a part of the team.
CBS Sports reported that Lillard said in a radio interview that he does not intend to participate in USAB's minicamp on August 11 to 13 because he felt like he was not needed after being cut from the final roster that competed in the FIBA World Cup in Spain last summer.

"I did it the last few summers. Last summer I didn't make it, so I don't know why I would go. If I got cut last summer, I don't think I'm a part of it," Lillard told Jody MacDonald of CBS Sports Radio.
USAB managing director Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski decided on having Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and a less than a hundred percent Derrick Rose to be the team's floor generals in Spain, and Lillard had allegedly felt disregarded by the selection, as per the Washington Post.
However, there were also reports that the real reason why Lillard would not attend is that he is having his own basketball camp in Portland on the same dates as the USAB's minicamp. Still, speculators pried that why would he set it at exactly the same time as Team USA's training if he is planning to attend the latter event.
Reading between the lines, it is clear that Lillard was not over the snub he got from Colangelo and company last year and he does not want to experience the same embarrassment again this year.
It is unknown as of the moment if Irving and Rose would be in USAB's camp next month as the former is still recuperating from a serious knee injury while the latter is mum about the event.
NBC Sports' Pro Basketball Talk indicated that the main challenge for Lillard in making the team is that the current USAB pool has a surplus of elite level point guards which are the same as he is.
While Curry, Irving, and Rose made the team, it is important to note that equal caliber, or arguably even better, point men such as Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook was not on the team either. Furthermore, a lot of forwards are ball handlers as well, like LeBron James, Paul George, and Kevin Durant.
