Park Shin Hye's rumored boyfriend, Lee Jong Suk, was earlier involved in an identity theft issue. Now, it seems that other Hallyu stars before him had also suffered the same fate. Con artists have managed to find a way to fool fans of some of Korea's renowned Hallyu stars. Such instance was reported in July 24 when representatives of Lee Jong Suk confirmed reports that he was a victim of identity theft.
The unnamed con artist reportedly used Lee Jong Suk's name to lure investors into giving him a whopping amount of cash. His personal seal was used to sign the contracts. Of course, Lee Jong Suk's agency was quick to deal with the case and had released a statement regarding the issue.
"As Lee Jong Suk's management agency, we have confirmed that the perpetrator used Lee Jong Suk's personal information and forged documents, gathering investors with hundreds of millions of won. As soon as we realized this, we filed a case with the police against the perpetrator for forgery of documents and fraud, and he was arrested on July 22. We plan to follow through with this case to the end without showing leniency. We hope that something like this will not happen to any other celebrities," stated the press release by Lee Jong Suk's agency.
However, it seems that Lee Jong Suk was not the only star who has fallen victim to such crimes. Other Hallyu stars who have been victims of identity theft include "The Heirs'" Lee Min Ho and "The Producers'" Kim Soo Hyun.
Another star who had fallen victim to identity theft was Park Hae Jin. The con artist had received a huge amount of money, which had represented the Korean actor in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Luckily, his agency was quick to resolve the issue as well.
Given the incidence of such issues, fans are being warned not to immediately believe everything they hear and see on the web. As for those involved, while Lee Min Ho and Kim Soo Hyun are prepping up for their respective films, Lee Jong Suk is set to release a photo book of his Asian tour. On the other hand, Park Hae Jin is set to star in the drama, "Cheese in Trap."
