The Los Angeles Lakers are in a three-way race for the service of power forward Kevin Seraphin. According to Jorge Castillo of Washington Post, the Lakers are competing with the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards to sign the budding French big man.

Seraphin, who averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15 minutes per game, will likely accept a one-year deal after failing to land a long-term contract. Still, Seraphin remains an intriguing prospect as he won't turn 26-years old until December.

The Lakers bolstered their frontcourt with the acquisition of Roy Hibbert (via trade with the Indiana Pacers) and Brandon Bass (free-agency), but general manager Mitch Kupchack hinted at the possibility of adding another big man at some point before training camp starts in September.

The 17th overall pick in 2010 Draft, Seraphin is still looking for a breakout year after settling most of his career behind power forward Nene Hilario and center Marcin Gortat. Despite getting limited playing time, the Frenchman has drawn interest from several contenders, including the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Via Jorge Castillo of Washington Post:

"Other teams were previously interested in Seraphin, who is slated to play for the French national team at EuroBasket in September. The Oklahoma City Thunder viewed him as a possible fall-back option if they did not re-sign Enes Kanter, and he's declined various offers from other organizations, according to a person with knowledge of the situation."

"At this point, a one-year deal - and the opportunity to jump back into another loony free agent market next summer after a season to prove himself - is likelier than a long-term pact."

Lay-ups:

As expected, the Lakers allowed Jordan Clarkson's contract to be fully guaranteed for next year. The Missouri Tigers standout is coming off a sensational rookie season, especially in the second half of the season as he averaged at least 15 points, five assists and 4.2 rebounds per game during that span. The All-Rookie first team member is expected to play a bigger role for the Lakers next season alongside Kobe Bryant and rookie playmaker D'Angelo Russell.
