MENOMEE FALLS (WI). While clothes, electronics, and toys can easily be found among most Goodwill donations, the Goodwill of Menomee Falls, Wisconsin was shocked to discover a new item hidden among the donations on Wednesday.
When Goodwill management came across what appeared to be a grenade among the donation pile at 8:45 a.m., the store was quick to evacuate the area until further notice. The store had contacted the local authorities to alert them of the suspicious act. The Milwaukee Police Department's Bomb Squad arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to take a closer look at the suspicious object.

Though Goodwill management did not discover the donation until early Wednesday morning, the team speculated that the item had been dropped off on Tuesday night. Goodwill Assistant Manager, Jessica Gonzalez-Moore, noted that the object had arrived in a box with other donations, including books, as a way to appear less suspicious.
In addition to the grenade-like device, other weaponry, including a knife and a large ammunition casing were also discovered.
After a careful examination, the troubling device was destroyed by the Bomb Squad in a safe area far away from the Goodwill. Upon its destruction, the authorities noted that the item was not in fact an explosive.
Even though the object was found to be non-explosive, the police are still keen in discovering the original donator of the device - not to bring trouble, but to further demonstrate safety precautions when putting together a Goodwill donation.
Despite the Goodwill's early evacuation, the surrounding areas were not affected by the mysterious donation and were able to continue on with their normal schedules.
Authorities have reminded the residents of the Menomee Falls area that these types of unidentifiable objects can easily be misinterpreted by others who are unfamiliar with their origins.
