However, while some fans liked the new handset, some complained that it still lacks apps which can compete with other smartphones like Samsung's S and Galaxy phones and Apple iPhones. Blackberry partnered with Chinese smartphone maker Foxconn at the MWC 2014 to debut a new mobile device and cater to emerging markets.

The BlackBerry Z3 appears to be inspired by the Z10 design language. It features a 5-inch glass display with a sleek BlackBerry logo and a power key with volume controls placed on its left panel. It also has a textured, soft-touch back grip and rectangular design.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that the BlackBerry Z3 was extremely well received over the weekend of its release. It has an increased demand which he thinks is due to the device's long battery life, large screen display and aggressive price. He said that the Blackberry Classic and BlackBerry Passport will be launched later in 2014 but did not divulge exact release dates.

The BlackBerry Z3 runs on BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS and 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It has 1.5GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, 2,500 mAh battery and a 5 megapixel rear camera. It is the first BlackBerry handset that has a microUSB port and an easy user interface. The user may multitask in real time smoothly and has an impressive battery backup that can last more than a day of a single charge. However, it does not have a front-facing camera and its sound output may be a downgrade from the previous BlackBerry handsets. The BlackBerry Z10 offers new features on the BlackBerry Hub with its quick and easy setting options and ability to install Android apps.
