Nexus 8 is being widely talked about after a couple of sightings that include one that listed it as "Volantis."

Nexus enthusiasts, however, have to hold their collective breath even longer after Google confirmed the restocking of  Nexus 7. Because of this, the Nexus 8 release may be held off until Nexus 7 units finally sell out.

Speculation that the Nexus 8 release is imminent emerged when the U.S. and UK Google Play Stores listed Nexus 7 as out of stock.

GforGames said the Nexus 8 or HTC 0P8210000 model I.D. has appeared in the FCC Korean version, RRA. The listing doesn't reveal any information about the device, however.

According to UpLeaks, the alleged Nexus 8 tablet purportedly has high-end specifications.

Its specs include a MDM9x24 modem 3G model; 64-bit Tegra processor,; 8 MP rear snapper with flash; 1.6 MP front-facing camera; 4 GB of RAM and NFC and GPS connectivity.

This is different from a previous report that said the Nexus 8 tablet would run a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset with 5 GB of RAM.

The Android device appears to take advantage with a 64-bit Android L backend. Other features include a Qualcomm LTE mode cellular connectivity.

The upcoming Nexus tablet may cost about US$300, which is cheaper than its competition since Google does not earn profits from hardware and uses that advantage to challenge rivals with the same price level.

There are other rumors claiming the Nexus 8 is also the Nexus 9. Really?

Google is said to want to shift to an 8-inch or 9-inch display to avoid the saturated 7-inch market.

Tipster Evleaks also posted a hint, saying besides the T1 Volantis or Flounder or Nexus 9, HTC is also developing two additional tablets: the T7 and T12.

HTC hasn't released any details about its projects but the company may plan to revive its tablet line to compete with Apple and Samsung.
