The New Zealanders managed to dominate the game from the outset and this was facilitated by an outstanding defensive effort of the team. They made things hard for England, and thus every goal they had to score was out of deep and sweaty struggle in the first quarter of the game.

Helen Housby, with a youthful goal attack, barely managed to bring on tables her existence in the game thus only managed to sink a single shot out of four.

England had to undergo a struggle for timing in the third front since Katrina Grant and Casey Kopua managed to pick up an amazingly quality turnover ball in order for the shooters of the New Zealand team - Maria Tutaia and Bailey Mes - could professionally covert.

This being the 101st game of Tataia for the New Zealand team, she made impeccable shots in collecting 9 from 9 as the New Zealand players manage to take a shot to a lead of 11-5.

Introducing the highly professional and greatly experienced Pam Cookey to replace Housby in the second quarter changed a lot for England.

At this time, England started finding loop holes through the middle, midcourters Tamsin Greenway and Jade Clarke's feeding offered a simplified solution as Cookey and Harten worked the formed circle in a clinically magnificent manner.

In the game, Harten did an impressive job by not missing even a single shot, managing 10 from 10 as the players of Silver Ferns found the supply of balls of turnover being scarce.

They were still in the front with 21-17 by halftime, but from the look of things, England still seemed perfectly assured of the outcome. The wing defender of New Zealand, Kayla Cullen took less than 30 seconds to degrade England's growing confidence.

New Zealand managed to maintain the intensity across the spell, whereby Cullen specifically menaced in thus imposing a lot of pressure on Tamsin Greenway; England's wing attack.

The defensive zone of New Zealand managed to push England far in their drive to the circle. England continued struggling despite the slim chances after Silver Fern was leading 37-27 by the time the game reached the three-quarter mark. The game continued to the last minute where New Zealand managed to win with a lead score of 50-39. This win gave Silver Fern a ticket to challenging the holders Australia in the finals while England will have to compete against Jamaica for the bronze.
