Netball World Cup Finals: England Defeats Jamaica in the Finals and Earns Bronze Title

England Beats Jamaica in the Finals to earn a Bronze title in the third place

Despite England vice captain Pamela Cookey not receiving much court time, the Roses have played

Jamaica received a beating of 66-44 from England in the Netball World Cup finals to earn themselves a Bronze title in games, held in Sydney Olympic Park.

England of Trace Neville, who managed to finish in the third place at the previous tournament that was held in Singapore in 2011, had the hopes of their fans raised up high when they showed too much potential in the first quarter by finding themselves a drift of five goals.

Things did not seem to work as they had expected since the Roses introduced an amazing turnaround to the end of the first half taking the lead with a 28-23 score.

In the last year's Bronze medal challenge, England lost to Jamaica at the Commonwealth Games that were held at Glasgow. This prompted certain changes that took place behind the scenes.

Among these changes is the bringing in of Neville to work as the interim World Cup coach and thus replaced Anna Mayes. She did not face easy conditions as expected since she had to endure a start that was tough to the tournament and in the process, her father died before her first ever win in the team against Scotland, according to The Guardians News.

The start that was made by England was a laborious one in the play-off in the third place. The introduction of a professional and highly skilled defender Sonia Mkoloma, who at this time was playing in her 5th Netball World Cup, aided them in settling the Roses.

Furthermore, Serena Guthrie, their wing defender, played an amazingly starring role in the game's second quarter revival and this enabled them to produce a swing of 10-goals to go ahead of their competitors with five points.

An overall game analysis by netball analysts confirmed that England gained strength in the second-half whereby, Jo Harten dominated at the posts, making it easy for them to brush their rivals to the loosing side. England ending up with a 66-44 win to take the bronze title home.

England got stronger in the second-half with Harten, dominating under the posts as they brushed their rivals aside to take the bronze in style.

England managed to secure a third place, thus, earning a Bronze Medal in the Netball World Cup held on Sunday Aug. 16, 2015 in Sydney Olypmic Park by thrusting Jamaica a beating of 66-44.
