Representing the United States of America during an international basketball competition like the Olympics in Rio next year is one of the greatest honors any player can receive. However, getting the chance to be on the 12-man roster is difficult and even the best players can get cut.

For 2x NBA All-Star John Wall, the chance to play for the US would be a dream come true, but he is well aware that his chances of getting in are minimal.

John Wall told CSN Washington that: "I'll be out of the picture ... I'm just being honest."

Wall further stated that: "Chris Paul has already won one (an Olympic gold). Steph Curry had an amazing last year and just won the World Cup. Kyrie just won the World Cup. Russell will probably be on the team. They'll use him as a two-guard. So I probably won't make it."

Past team USA's has usually only had 3 point guards play for the team at a time. To make it onto the team, he'd have to beat out at least 4 of the aforementioned 3 as well as Mike Conley and Michael Carter-Williams.

Very tough competition indeed.

Still, this kind of competition does not discourage Wall. In fact, he uses it as motivation to play well in the NBA and to show everybody that they would be wrong in putting him off the team.

"It's tough, but I've been overlooked my whole career. I'm used to it. Just more motivation and fuel to my fire".

John Wall then further reiterated that the Washington Wizards, the NBA team that John Wall has led for the past couple seasons, remains a priority. Under Wall, the Washington Wizards have had moderate success. They have made the playoffs since the 2013-2014 season, each ending up with a second round exit. The Wizards, with their young core of Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter, have a bright future ahead of them. Still, their path to playoff success involves beating the Lebron led Cleveland Cavaliers. James has not missed the finals since the 2010 season.

Wall played in the minicamp in Las Vegas, Nevada because he had heard that attendance in the camp was mandatory if he wanted a spot on a future minicamp that would be crucial in deciding the team. He had learned however, that this was not the case, stating "I think they might not have a minicamp next year. They might just pick a team ... That will be the tough part. If you don't have mini-camp, you have to play well during the season. "

Still, Wall has no regrets participating in Las Vegas, stating that he thought "it was a good look anyways".

Wall averaged 17.6 PPG, 10.0 APG, and 4.6 RPG for the Washington Wizards in the 2014-2015 NBA season.
