Zhang Ziyi and Gong Li, two of the most beautiful faces in Chinese entertainment, were not too happy about their wax counterparts at the Huaying Mountain Chinese and Foreign Celebrity Museum in Sichuan, China. In fact, their agencies are reportedly ready to take legal action against the management if their "ugly figures" are not taken off the "horror wax museum."

Pictures of "distastefully done" wax figures of celebrities and historical personalities went viral on social media sites. Soon enough, the wax doubles became the object of ridicule among netizens. One appalled user reportedly wrote "I guess the celebrities will cry looking at the ugly version of themselves. This is a horror wax museum."

According to Zhang's manager, their camp will send a lawyer's letter of request for the removal of the 36-year-old beauty's museum counterpart. Similarly, Gong's manager cannot help but describe the 49-year-old stunner's wax figure as "completely horrible." Both parties ultimately remarked that the inclusion of the actresses in the wax collection was in no way authorized by them.

Deputy general of Huaying Mountain Tourism Area deputy general, Zhang Yuehiong, allegedly expressed sadness over netizens' mockery of their museum. While the museum management admitted that the wax twins do not closely resemble the celebrities, Zhang stated that they find the comparison with Madame Tussauds as "unfair."

"If they want it to be taken down, then it will be taken down," Yahoo! quoted Zhang.

Meanwhile, museum curator Zhang Shouxiang explained, "For many years, these wax models have travelled between museums in China, and for sure these are made by the most famed professors in the Chinese academies of fine arts." He further defended the difference in appearance as their measure make the figures "look down-to-earth."

According to the deputy general, the museum was originally built along with the Huayingshan Guerillas Memorial Museum in 2007 to educate people about patriotism. The addition of celebrity wax figures was mainly to attract younger visitors.

Other celebrities with "ugly twins" at the museum are former Miss Hong Kong runner-up Maggie Cheung, Jackie Chan, Stephen Chou, Andy Lau, and Jay Chou. As for the dowdy clothes that apparently de-glamorize the stars' wax figures, the museum management denied that they had a hand at choosing the outfits.
