Reigning WBA (Super) super lightweight and The Ring junior welterweight champion Danny "Swift" Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) is reportedly going to face former interim WBA and WBO lightweight, former interim WBC welterweight, and former IBF super featherweight and featherweight titlist Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) this fall for potential blockbuster matchup.

Boxing News 24 reported that this fight would be a "step up" for Garcia, whose last fight was a round 9 TKO victory against former WBA welterweight champ Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center just this month.

The Malignaggi fight was the 27-year-old's debut in the full 147-pound welterweight division as he fought two catchweight matches in the past against Lamont Peterson and Rod Salka.

Malignaggi, who became a boxing TV analyst when he semi-retired in April 2014, attempted a comeback against Garcia, but he was too soft a puncher to even give the Philadelphia native any concerns during their match.

Meanwhile, Guerrero is coming off a split decision victory over American Aaron Martinez in June of this year at the StubHub Center in Carson. The Ghost was actually knocked down by Martinez in the fourth round but managed to fight his way back into the fight to win the 10-rounder.

Analysts were saying that the 32-year-old Gilroy, California native is already on a decline especially after two convincing unanimous decision losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013 and Keith Thurman in March of this year.

SB Nation's Bad Left Hook indicated that the fight would be in favor of Garcia considering Guerrero's latest in-ring struggles. Garcia also has a chance to improve his resume by including Guerrero in his list of well-known beaten fighters such as Malignaggi, Peterson, Lucas Matthysse, Zab Judah, Erik Morales, Amir Khan, and Nate Campbell.

However, many boxing experts believe that a fight and a win against eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao would really propel Garcia to a status he has never reached before.

Pacquiao's coach Freddie Roach said in a recent interview that he wants his ward to fight Garcia next year. Roach even said that it would be the "easiest fight in the (bleeping) world" for PacMan, as per Boxing Scene.
