Comic book fans rejoice as Spider-man finally makes his long-overdue appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in "Captain America: Civil War," scheduled for release on May 6, 2016. While it is still unknown how significant Spidey's role will be in the film, there are speculations that his appearance will be more than just a cameo.

Production of "Civil War" is already underway as English actor Tom Holland was spotted on set in Germany recently, according to Heroic Hollywood. A tipster hinted that Spidey will have a face-off with Captain America, but the specifics are unavailable. So fans can expect that Spider-man will play a pivotal role in the storyline of the film.
Two factions of superheroes, led by Iron-Man on one side and Captain America on the other, will find themselves at odds because of the Super-human Registration Act passed by the government. This law forces all super-powered individuals to reveal their true identities, which Captain America opposes and Iron-Man supports.
Initially, Spidey sides with the Armored Avenger Tony Stark. But after discovering the pro-registration faction's deep, dark secrets, Spider-man eventually joins Captain America's anti-registration group. If the film closely follows the storyline in the comic books, then it may confirm that the Web-slinger will go toe-to-toe with the Super Soldier.
Meanwhile, news of another Spider-man reboot film scheduled for release in 2017 was met with mixed reactions, as fans are exhausted with another origin story. However, the new feature film will not retell Peter Parker's Uncle being killed off again and learning about the responsibilities of great power.
Instead, the story will give emphasis on Spider-man's life as a young teenager. The film writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein promises that their interpretation will not be another iteration of Spider-man's origin story, according to Ecumenical News.
"It'll be a fun departure from the Peter Parker that you've seen where now, he is truly a kid. And I think the stakes are increased in that his struggle through high school is very real and isn't just a sort of side note. It matters now," Daley says.
