Andrew Garfield has spoken about his time as Spider-Man, but this is the first time fans have heard him speak about a huge suggestion he made to Sony Pictures. The actor admitted that he was rallying for the character to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Garfield, who starred in director Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its sequel was bumped off from the titular role after Marvel and Sony had a deal early this year.

The actor was interviewed by Uproxx ahead of his latest film, "99 Homes." It will be the first time in five years that he will play a character other than Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

While many praised Garfield and his leading lady in the film, ex-girlfriend Emma Stone, the issue that many fans and critics had was with the story and the direction of the film.

In fact, according to many reports, it was the relationship of the two onscreen that were the best parts of the film. If not for the Peter-Gwen relationship plotline, the movie would've received more criticism.

So instead of having a third movie featuring Garfield, he was left off consideration for the Spider-Man role with both Marvel and Sony deciding to bring in a younger actor and reboot the franchise for the second time.

"I'm really, really grateful for the whole ride of it," he says. "And I'm really excited for the next one."

When asked if he was considered by Marvel at all for the reboot, the actor had this to say.

"...To be honest [pauses], all the ins and outs of what happened is a more tender conversation that maybe I don't want to talk about in public in a press situation. But all I can say is that I'm stoked to go and watch a Marvel film of Spider-Man."

Now, more than a year after "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was released in theaters, Andrew Garfield is ready to talk about a petition he had for Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU by way of working on a team up with Marvel.

"...I've been petitioning to hook up with Marvel since the beginning, so I'm really glad they're finally doing it."

Sony may not have listened to him then but after all the drama stemming from the email leaks from last year, it seems things worked out according to Garfield's plans after all.
