Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced that Robert Griffin III is "out" and that Kirk Cousins will take over as starter "for 2015, moving forward."
Gruden even went on to describe the Redskins as "Kirk's team," according to Yahoo Sports' Shutdown Corner.
Cousins supposedly convinced the Redskins with his offseason work and showing at training camp.

Cousins has completed 18 touchdowns and was intercepted 19 times in his career, and has a poor 77.5 rating. Worse, the Redskins were just 2-7 in games where he started.
While Cousins performed well in the preseason, it's no secret that there are many quarterbacks who looked good against weak defenses in the preseason only to be exposed during highly-important games.
The Redskins coach said that they believe in Griffin, too, and that it's good to have three quarterbacks competing for the starting job.
Gruden said owner Daniel Snyder, who supposedly resisted suggestions by the front office and coaching staff to trade or dump Griffin, had nothing to do with the decision.
In his announcement, Grifffin focused on what Cousins has shown in practices, and not on Griffin's shortcomings.
Gruden added that they plan to keep Griffin on the roster and said he has nothing against Griffin and liked him as a quarterback.
He clarified that there have been no discussions about letting Griffin go.
Nonetheless, there were talks that the Redskins tried to make it appear that Griffin had a concussion in order to kee him from playing after a Detroit Lions player fell on him in a preseason game on Aug. 20.
Griffin practiced all week after the collission and was cleared to play by neurologist Robert N. Kurtzke only to be told that further tests will be necessary.
According to CBS Sports, the Redskins have been peddling Griffin to other teams but did not receive much interest in return.
