The Tennessee Titans acquired running back Terrance West from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in exchange for a 2016 conditional draft pick, as per ESPN.

West is expected to share carrying duties with second-year pro Antonio Andrews behind starter Bishop Sankey. The team is also awaiting the return of their rookie David Cobb who was placed on the injury reserve list due to a recurring calf problem.

Rounding out the members of the Titans' backfield are Dexter McCluster and Jalston Fowler at full back.

The 24-year-old West was a third-round, 94th overall selection by the Browns in 2014 from Towson. Right on his first NFL game, he was able to gain 100 yards in 16 carries on his way to become Cleveland's leading pass-rusher during the 2014 season. He finished last year with 673 yards on 171 carries and four touchdowns.

Bleacher Report noted that West looked to be a "solid investment" for the Browns especially after his rookie performance but his off-court antics have always drawn out "the ire of the coaching staff", which allegedly led to the trade.

It seems like his attitude definitely had outweighed his talent and contributions on the field enough for Cleveland head coach Mike Pettine to let him go. Actually, it is quite surprising that the team opted to let go of West since the Browns are short on running backs at the moment. It could mean that there must be a deeper reason why the trade was pushed through.

The trade left Cleveland with only two running backs and a fullback in their backfield lineup, with the second ball carrier, Duke Johnson, currently suffering from a recurring hamstring injury.

"I like the running backs," former Browns player Jim Brown said during the offseason. "Unfortunately, West didn't seem to understand how to totally be a professional in the eyes of the coaches, which is a bad thing. It hurts his talent."

The Northeast Ohio Media Group revealed that West was traded because of his "inconsistency on the field and immaturity off of it".

The coaching staff was pushed too hard by West's antics that even if the team does not have enough backs, they still chose to swap him even for a lowly seventh-rounder.

It was also reported that the Browns tried trading him to the Cowboys and two other undisclosed teams, but all were not interested in West.
