Welter, the NFL's first female coach, found it "cool" to be part of the event and said a that it was a phenomenal gesture on the part of Mayweather.

She took to Twitter to confirm her acceptance of the inviattion and to thank Mayweather for the invitation, according to an ESPN report.

The 37-year-old Welter said her involvement is to be merely a spectator and there there were yet no plans for her to walk to the ring with Mayweather.

With Mayweather's history of domestic violence,  Welter's acceptance of the invitation drew a lot of flak in the social media.

In an earlier interview, Welter suggested that hiring female coaches would help solve the NFL's domestic violence problem.

She said that the biggest question about her joining the league was how the guys in the NFL would respond to a woman coaching them, and she fund out that the obvious answer is yes.

Welter helped coach the inside linebackers in her  internship with the Cardinals.

After her NFL internship has concluded, and the Cardinals decided not to hire her for a full-time role.

But after leaving such a good impression on players, coaches and fans, Welter is looking forward to getting another opportunity in the NFL at some point, the Bleacher Report noted.

It's noteworthy that there wasn't a single negative report about Welter during her intership with the Cardinals.

Welter had played and coached not only in  women's leagues but also in men's and professional and semi-professional football leagues.
