Up and coming heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (14-0, 14 KOs) knocked out unheralded Scottish boxer Gary Cornish (21-1, 12 KOs) inside 90 seconds during their 12-round heavyweight title bout at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, London on Saturday.

With the victory, Joshua retained his WBC International heavyweight crown and won the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title, as per SkySports.

Cornish, who was also undefeated before this match with Joshua, is naturally taller and heavier than the 25-year-old Olympic gold medalist, but those advantages meant nothing against the newest British sensation.

"It was a perfect connection and he went tumbling down," said Joshua. "If I take my time, it could be me on the end of one of those blows in five rounds or so."

Joshua was just too good and too powerful for the "Highlander" and was actually knocked down in the middle of the ring during the first minute of the match before he was finally disposed a few seconds later.

The 28-year-old Inverness native actually started strong as he caught his opponent with a long left jab right in the opening moments, as reported by The Guardian. He tried it again, but it was countered with a right hook, sending him to his first knock down.

Surprisingly, Cornish was able to get up from both floorings, but referee Victor Loughlin stopped the fight during the second one as the Scot is clearly unable to continue.

"There's no extra time. Credit to Gary where credit is due," Joshua said modestly after the fight. "He's a big man and had a solid jab. It's a 12-round fight and I wasn't trying to dish it all out in round one, but I managed to find shots to get the job done."

Joshua is set to defend both titles on December 12th at the same venue against fellow Londoner Dillian Whyte, who taunted the former by calling him a "scumbag" and a "fake" before Saturday's event, according to BBC Sport. The match is also for the vacant British heavyweight title.

Whyte, who beat Joshua during their amateur days, gave an impressive performance in the undercard of the Joshua-Cornish bout by knocking out American Brian Minto in the third round of their 10-round WBC International Silver heavyweight title fight.
