Although Apple did not disclose the numbers of advance orders, Apple told the Wall Street Journal that they were "on pace" to surpass the 10 million record last year.

Analysts expect 4.5 million pre-orders in the firs 24 hours compared to the 4 million pre-orders last year.
Trully Muller, Apple's spokesperson, said that the responses for IPhone 6S and IPhone 6S Plus have been positive and that pre-orders were very strong.

In fact, the company further added that pre-orders for the IPhone 6S Plus exceeded their expectation and they are now working harder to catch up with the orders.Pre-orders for the IPhone 6S and IPhone 6S Plus were accepted starting Sept. 12, Saturday. Shipping for these phones will commence on Sept. 25.

This year, China is now part of the places where early purchase is available, making IPhone 6S the first IPhone available for pre-order in mainland China. Quartz reported that China is responsible of a great chunk of the 10 million pre-orders Apple has.

Greater China that includes Hong Kong and Taiwan is responsible for 20% of Apple's revenue. If mainland China (roughly 40 times its population) is included in the equation, together they might have helped Apple with as much as two million orders in this weekend's pre-booking.

Quartz further added that although these are approxiamte numbers, They have asked Apple about the exact numbers and will update once their queries are answered.

With an ennourmous sales records last year, Apple is now faced by whether they could at least maintain this momentum.  With the launch of the IPhone 6 and IPhone 6S last year, Apple has increased its revenue by 32 percent, the Business Insider recalls.

While skeptics continue to say that the company cannot pull this off, John Jackson said that Apple will continue to out perform itself like what is usually does. He further acknowledged that the increase in revenue last year was difficult to follow; however, the high demands for pre-bookings this season is showing as a good sign.
