Americans around the country including President Barack Obama have declared support for a Muslim teenager in Dallas, who was arrested on Monday after being suspected of bringing an explosive device to school. The "device" turned out to be a digital clock built by the teen.
Ahmed Mohamed has received more than a million tweets as of Wednesday evening under the #IstandWithAhmed Twitter hashtag.

On Monday, Ahmed was arrested by the local police after MacArthur school officials called them in. They reported that the teenage boy was carrying a "bomb looking device" in his backpack.
In press interview, Irving city's chief of police Larry Boyd defended the decision to arrest the boy. He said the digital clock looked "suspicious enough", but admitted that there was no proof the teen intended to harm his fellow pupils or the school.
The police chief also denied that the teen's religion was a factor in his arrest and simply said that such items should not be brought to school.
Ahmed's parents have announced that they are transferring him to a new school since officials at MacArthur high school allowed the police to handcuff the teen. They say he has not been permitted to return to classes.
A representative of the school Lesley Weaver said that current rules prohibit her from discussing Ahmed's suspension. The spokesperson, however, defended the action of her colleagues saying they were concerned for the safety of the other students.
Irving police later announced that they will not file any charges against the Ahmed after initially telling the media that they were considering filing a case against him for bringing a "hoax bomb" to school.
The news of Ahmed's arrest has since gone viral online. Some leaders in the technology sector (such as Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg) as well as scientists have voiced their support for the boy.
Various tech companies such as Google have also extended invitations to the Muslim teen to visit their facilities. President Obama has also invited him to visit the White House.
Ahmed and his family thanked their supporters and said that they have been overwhelmed by the kindeness and support shown to them.
