David Cameron arrived at the United Nations on Sunday and hoped to work with other countries on a deal, which can end Syria's ugly and bitter civil war.
The British Prime Minister, Cameron, thought of a deal that could allow the Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, to stay in power for a period of time and hoped that John Kerry, the United States' Secretary of State, to help find a political resolution to end the four-year Syrian civil war. However, according to BBC News, the prime minister insisted on making the Syrian president to step down to allow nationwide reconciliation.

The Guardian stated that the 70th UN summit in New York aimed at controlling global poverty, which the prime minister backs his foreign secretary Philip Hammond's view to make Al-Assad to step down but remain as president for a little while as part of a government transition, and better yet, that he would step down to end the conflict as mentioned earlier.
Hammond said several weeks ago to the Commons Foreign Affairs committee that Al-Assad could be allowed to stay for up to half a year or longer. Because according to a British government source, the Syrian refugees cannot return to their respective homes as long as Al-Assad is the president of the country. By this, it is needed to work with other countries on a solution that can assist the transition for a long-term, peaceful, and stable future for Syrians.
Meanwhile, the Syrian president is still supported by Russia, in which the dispatching of troops as well as aircraft to Damascus last week appears to battle against the Islamic State (IS) and other militant groups. With this, the UN general assembly in the US, specifically in the New York state, offers an opportunity for all world leaders to inject a new momentum into the international peace talks on Syria, especially to the US and Russian presidents, Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin.
Cameron has issued a strong defense of his approach to the Syrian refugee crisis as well as other humanitarian challenges worldwide ahead of the summit in New York. The United Kingdom has already provided a multibillion pound overseas aid program to millions of refugees because of the long years of Syrian conflict.
