His movement is supported by a number of organizations, such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Save the Children, TED, the United Nations Foundation, as well as known personalities like, Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, Shakira, George Takei, Charlize Theron, and Jimmy Wales to name a few.
He further highlighted that the message they are sharing to the world is simple:
"Internet access is essential for achieving humanity's Global Goals."
In order to provide people with tools, knowledge and opportunities, the role of the internet is very crucial, he added. It is essential in giving them a way to uplift themselves from poverty and providing them with a medium to make their voices be heard and a means toward empowerment.
He ended his post by urging everyone who reads his message to share their support through one.org's website.
In the speech he made in the United Nations luncheon, the also announced that he is collaborating the High Commissioner of the United Nations to bring internet access to the refugee camps around the world.
In addition to this, Jamie Drummond, Founder of ONE and its global executive director, said that "Internet access is a catalyst for creating a world of greater freedom, fairness and dignity for all peoples, everywhere." Venture Beat reports.
Drummond also urges every country to participate in making this global goal possible. Citing that the Pope and Malala have spoken about one world, one family that everyone is part of and the internet being a medium to unite everyone, he further added that the three billion that do not have access to the internet at the moment are left out of the family, thus the urgency of the movement they are pushing.
It could be recalled that in August 2013, he Zuckerberg also introduced internet.org to the world. It is geared toward connecting people without access to the internet.
The movement that Zuckerberg is currently working on will continue what he has started two years ago and connect the rest of the people, who does not have access to the internet at the moment.
