Profile is an important component of Facebook, as profiles of different users get viewed for about 4 billion times cumulatively everyday. Having a moving Facebook profile image adds a new dimension to the social networking site, according to The Verge. It is also a "big thing", because it encourages Facebook users to be more creative with their profiles.

Aigerim Shorman, project manager for the new profile on Facebook, told Tech Crunch that the video profile is a product of a brainstorming session. Shorman said that one of the designers showed a moving profile image, and said that a "gem" has been found when the image has been shown. Soon, profile videos can be shot once the profile picture is clicked, and shooting can be done for up to 7 seconds without sound.

Othet significant changes which will roll out to the social platform soon is the selection of five feature photos, temporary profile pics and adding a 100-character Bio. Shorman said that all these changes work together to better showcase "what's going on" in the users' lives.

The Featured Photos will appear on top of the user's profile, and can show activities the user is into, like working out or cooking, for example. The Bio lets other users know about others on Facebook, even if they are not friends on the platform. This allows them to gauge whether they will like to connect or not. Temporary profile pictures will let users select a profile picture then revert it back to the old one after a designated amount of time. This feature is said to be getting an official roll out soon.
