The virtual assistant Cortana would not make her full debut to owners of Microsoft's latest console until early next year. The users will have to settle for Cortana's possible appearance in Halo 5 at the end of the month instead.

Currently, a new Windows 10-powered dashboard for the Xbox One is being tested by Microsoft according to The Verge. The new update contains a number of new features. Cortana integration is one of the big additions. A demonstration of how Cortana works in the new dashboard with various videos is shown. The company reveals that Cortana would not be available with the Xbox One update in November.

Engadget reported that Microsoft's Larry Hryb or also called Major Nelson who is the voice from Master Chief's ear said that Cortana will be added to the Xbox One experience preview later this year, ensuring the experience is tuned for gamers before the official launch of Cortana in 2016.

The delay is still not yet clear. There was no mention of the 2016 date back in June when Microsoft first detailed the Cortana integration for Xbox One. Kinect was required for Cortana's speech recognition. The roll out delay could possibly allow the company to make the digital assistant work with headsets.

More Xbox One preview members are added to the dashboard test this weekend. This is because Microsoft is still persistent with its new Xbox One experience preview. New features on the Xbox beta app for Windows 10 are added such as party text chat that allows friends to message each other in a party instead of just using voice. Inline notifications are also added to allow the users to reply to a message notification. Enabled notifications for Xbox Live members are also added in order to add the user as a friend or sharing, liking, or commenting on a game clip or post.

The users are hoping to experience Cortana's most helpful version on Xbox One this year.
