After three months of anticipated waiting, Chinese movie fans seems to have enjoyed their weekend watching the comic book-based movie Ant-Man that opened in the country this past Friday.
The Walt Disney distributed film earned a tremendous $12.9 million on its premier day alone, beating Guardians of the Galaxy's record in the People's Republic, according to Forbes. In addition, over the three-day weekend, the Paul Rudd starred movie snatched a total earning of $43.2 million, the second biggest premier following the Marvel's superhero-based film Avengers: Age of Ultron, which earned an impressive $156 million in just five days. As of writing, the Disney and Marvel tandem picture has reaped $454.6 million in total. For fanatics anticipating the next adventure of this little superhero, the Deadline reports that the shrinking insect is set to come back on the big screen with the release of the series Ant-Man and The Wasp in July 2018. This has been confirmed by Marvel.

Trailing behind in second place is the Ridley Scott's science fiction film The Martian with a total gross earning of $37 million and at $319.2 million worldwide.
Meanwhile, snagging in third place is the animated Adam Sandler's Hotel Transylvania 2 with $30.6 million gain and $267.5 million across the globe. The part one of the move earned $358.4 million.
Coming in at the fourth and fifth places are Goodbye Mr. Loser, a Chinese play-based comedy film with $22 million, and Warner Bros. fantasy adventure family film Pan with $14.4 million.
Meanwhile, the horror film, a masterpiece by Guillermo del Toro, Crimson Peak, is struggling to climb the ladder as compared to the others with only $12.8 million. This may have been caused by the fact that the movie's audience was limited by age restrictions in countries like Spain, Germany and the UK. On the brighter side, the film is yet to be released in Italy, Japan and Korea.
