More than 200 die-hard fans of Star Wars gathered at the Great Wall of China as Walt Disney Co. premiered a Chinese rendition of its most awaited trailer on Tuesday night.
"The Force Awakens on the Great Wall" campaign was spearheaded by Burbank media. The latest release of the George Lucas-written series enjoyed a successful opening in China as hundreds of fans were present on the night.

Adding to the fans' uncontained excitement, Disney exhibited 500 pint-sized Stormtrooper figures on the Wall, distributed lightsabers with blue or red color, and gave out several other mementos. The event took place at the Juyongguan part of the wall.
Reuters reported that it was during the half time of the National Football league tournament of ESPN, a division of Disney, that the new trailer of the latest "Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens" was launched.
After the promotion was televised, two online sites, namely, Fandango and MovieTickets.com, released tickets for the movie - setting a pre-selling record.
An article published by The Wall Street Journal features stories told by different fanatics of what has been dubbed the "most successful film merchandising franchise" flick. A dedicated member of the 501st Legion Mr. Ding, is one of the few examples. He reportedly spends most of his spare time working on Star Wars and has created ensembles like Darth Vader and Clone Trooper to name a few.
The movie will be released in the United States on December 18. While, in China, a specific release date has not be given out yet because the country regulates the movies to be shown. This notwitstanding, Disney has high hopes to make the film a blockbuster in the People's Republic.
