Rumors are out that Los Angeles Lakers are trying to hire former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau to replace failing bench tactician Byron Scott in the Hollywood team this season.

So far, Scott has been a disappointment for Lakers fans, with a combined win-loss record of 22-67 in his first season.

A lot of fans and basketball analysts are actually clamoring for him to be fired. One of these critics is The Roar's Ryan O'Connell, who said that the "Lakers must fire head coach Byron Scott immediately" because "the modern NBA has passed him by. To the point where he is now a terrible coach."

O'Connell noted that Scott was the man in charge when the Lakers compiled their worst record of all time last season, 21-61. But that was not the main reason why he is calling for the former Laker shooting guard's dismissal. It is because the 2008 NBA Coach of the Year has refused to adapt to the current era of NBA basketball.

Thibodeau is actually a more experienced coach than Scott as he has been coaching since 1981 while Scott began in 1998 after he had retired from playing. Thibs was the Coach of the Year in 2011. He has an NBA career head coaching record of 255-139, all with the Bulls, as opposed to Scott's 437-582 with four different teams.

Meanwhile, Fansided's Eric Yee has indicated that the Lakers' young players need a coach that demonstrates "consistency" all the time and "has their best interest in mind," and it seems like Scott is not that man.

While Scott is known for being "defensive-minded", his team's stats is not reflecting it, according to Yee, which is why the Lakers are in a rut right now.

Thibodeau will bring "defense" to the Lakers, first of all, and would not allow primadonnas in his team. Another thing that he could bring is the ability to perform with limited roster options. It should be noted that without Derrick Rose from 2012 to 2014, Thibodeau was still able to lead the Bulls to the playoffs in all those years.

There are no official reports that team officials are actually talking with Thibs at this moment.
