FIFA Reveals Rio 2016 Schedule

(Photo : Getty Images) FIFA has announced that Brazil's Maracana Stadium will host the final games of the men women Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

FIFA has revealed the schedule for the upcoming Men and Women's Olympic Football Tournament in Brazil.

Seven stadiums in total will be used for the Rio 2016 games, including some of the venues used for the 2014 FIFA World Cup located in Brasilia, Manaus, Salvador and Sao Paolo.

These stadiums will accommodate fans from around the world to witness a celebration of the love for football.

The opening game, which will be the first group game in the women's division, will officially commence at the Olympic stadium at Rio de Janeiro on August 3, 2016.

The quarterfinals tournament will be held on stadiums located in Brasilia, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and Sao Paolo on August 13, 2016.

Six teams have already booked a place in the participating list for the women's competition. These countries include Brazil, Colombia, Germany, France, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The first game of the men's division will kick off in Brasilia on August 4, 2016.

The men's competition quarterfinals tournament will be held at the same locations as the women's quarterfinal tournament.

The men's tournament will be held in two cities of Brazil, Brasilia and Salvador, according to the football governing body via Xinhua News.

Nine teams from various parts of the world have confirmed their participation for the 16-team tournament in the men's division.

Brazil, the host country, is the first on the list. Other countries who will participate are Argentina, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Fiji, Mexico and Honduras.

Although the games will be staged in different places during the elimination round, the final match will be held in the famous Maracana stadium.

Maracana stadium, owned by the government of Rio de Janiero, was built in 1950 to host the World Cup. It is the main stadium used for football games between major clubs and occasionally for concert events in Brazil.

The bronze and gold medal match for the men's tournament will be held on August 19, 2016 and the women's final tournament will be held on August 20, 2016.
