The event focused on role playing game content for Nintendo systems. Fans of Nintendo let their voices get heard through Operation Rainfall regarding unreleased Wii RPG's such as the popular game Xenoblade Chronicles. The successor of the game called Xenoblade Chronicles X was announced in the West not that long after it was first revealed.
Blockbuster JRPGs' are not that trendy right now, only the Final Fantasy game series is still asserting itself as a contender, so Nintendo has a big opportunity to fill the void.
The long awaited Xenoblade Chronicles X game is composed of a huge cast. This beautiful game can compete with popular titles in the industry such as Dragon Age and Fallout. According to Venture Beat, Xenoblade Chronicles X is an open world game that pushes its scope even further. The game integrates mech battle into the already engrossing MMO-inspired battle system.
Hardcore Gamer reported that the developer Monolith Soft packed Xenoblade Chronicles X with a huge amount of landmass that makes the graphics of the game look stunning. The game was inspired by the big trends in Western blockbusters, like the open world style of gameplay and MMO-inspired combat. It is clear that the company is hoping to appeal to the overlap in audiences between open world games and JRPGs. However, it still remains to be seen how the Wii U's smaller install base hampers its sales potential.
Nintendo is putting forward Xenoblade Chronicles X as the lead of its RPG line-up. Xenoblade Chronicles X will be available on Dec. 4 for Nintendo Wii U.
