"Like a Virgin" hitmaker Madonna became emotional as she paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris during her concert in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday.

Many people in the entertainment industry decided to postpone or cancel their shows and tour dates following the deadly terror attacks, which left over 100 people dead. However, Madonna chose to perform at her show as scheduled.

"I was going to cancel my show tonight," the musician told the audience in Stockholm, according to Vanity Fair

In a video posted by Variety, Madonna explains how hard it was for her to decide to perform for her fans despite everything that is going on in Paris.

"It's been very hard for me to get through this show up to this point and not forget about what happened last night," Madonna said to the audience. "So I need to take this moment to acknowledge the tragedy, the tragic killings, assassinations and the senseless endings of precious life that occurred last night in Paris."

"Why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones?" the teary-eyed Madonna told her audience.

Before continuing the show, the 57-year-old singer also spoke about the suspects behind the attacks.

"That is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up. They want to silence us. And we won't let them. We will never let them!" the singer said. "Because there is power in unity and I do believe that as much chaos and pain and senseless violence and terrorism that occurs around this world - not just in Paris - as much as that does occur, there is more goodness in this world. We are here to prove it,"  she said.

Madonna asked the crowd to observe a minute of silence for the victims before Mdonna dedicated the song "Like a Prayer" to the victims of the massacre.

A report by People said that the singer later wrote a post on Facebook expressing gratitude to fans in Stockholm.

More than a hundred people have been confirmed dead and up to 352 injured in the coordinated attacks in Paris.

ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the gruesome crime.
